Participation in the Col·legi d’Enginyers Industrials

On Wednesday 24 May, we participated in the Conference on management and resilience of electrical infrastructure for new mobility in cities organized by the College of Industrial Engineers of Catalonia.

Cities are points of concentration of activity and human relationships and, although today digitalization opens and facilitates new doors of relationship, cities must be able to guarantee mobility that adapts to the new situations of the 21st century. The need to decarbonize cities is critical because urban heat islands, which are mainly caused by the dissipation of heat engines and heating systems, make urban warming more noticeable.

For all this, at MEC we defend electric and shared mobility as a viable solution to decarbonise cities, reduce global warming and improve air quality.

In these days we were able to share a table with experts from the companies, Sumosu, Endesa, Schneider Electric, Circutor and Wallbox; to discuss the challenges for urban electrical networks.

Don’t miss a single detail and relive the full day!

We expanded vehicles in the Jardinets de Passeig de Gràcia car park and opened new car parks.

MEC electric carsharing is one of the most sustainable and comfortable options for getting around the city. With a fleet of 100% electric vehicles, we offer a real alternative to private vehicles and promote a more sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility model.

As a sign of our commitment to the city and our users, we have expanded the fleet of carsharing vehicles in Barcelona of vehicles in the SABA Jardinets de Passeig de Gràcia car park in Barcelona, from 2 to 4 vehicles, as well as the opening of new car parks such as SABA València/Calàbria.

This expansion not only demonstrates the confidence of our users in the service and the success of demand, but also facilitates the user experience by having greater availability and flexibility in Barcelona.

But how does the MEC electric carsharing carsharing service work? It is very simple. Users can register through the mobile app and reserve an electric vehicle whenever they need one. The cars are available 24 hours a day and can be picked up and returned to the more than 10 car parks in Barcelona, spaces with charging points, spread over different areas of the city. In addition, the service includes vehicle recharging, so users don’t have to worry about a thing.

Another advantage of our service is that the prices are very competitive and adapt to the needs of each user, with payment options per hour, day, week or other long-term periods. In addition, users can enjoy special promotions and discounts.

The carsharing service is a great interest to companies, professionals and freelancers; that is why MEC offers rate proposals tailored to each need.

Likewise, the MEC fast recharging service, included in the rate and free for users, facilitates recharging during trips to be able to cover as many kilometers as necessary.

Electric vehicles emit zero polluting emissions and significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the city. In addition, by promoting car sharing, the number of vehicles on the streets is reduced and it helps to reduce traffic congestion.

MEC participates in the 4YFN of the Mobile World Congress 2023

From February 27 to March 3, the Mobile World Congress has returned to Barcelona to position Catalonia as the reference center for connectivity and technology. The quintessential technology conference featured more than 2,000 exhibitors including global mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, and content creators and sellers.

MEC electric carsharing has been part of the 4YFN (4 Years From Now) round table that has taken place on Wednesday, March 1. During the event, the Connectio open innovation platform was presented, a Barcelona Activa initiative that seeks to connect startups, SMEs and large corporations with concrete innovation opportunities. At Connectio, companies can pose social, environmental and economic challenges, as well as offer other methodologies to come up with different solutions to these challenges. Previously, MEC had submitted a sustainable mobility proposal to one of the challenges raised in Connectio.

We have had the honour of sharing the round table, moderated by Bárbara Mayoral Santamaria, with Joan Ras Jansà, founding member of SDLI; and Alejandro Torras Cardona, Director & Founder of UNIFIT.

MEC wins CIRE tender

CIRE is the public company of the Department of Justice of the Generalitat of Catalonia, whose objective is to give second chances to people deprived of liberty, through training and work. They need to have vehicles of discontinuous use for the employees who provide service.

On January 16, the announcement of the CIRE tender requiring the supply of vehicles in the carsharing modality in Barcelona was published. MEC electric carsharing, as a shared electric vehicle rental company for hours or days, made an offer in the tender.

On February 7, it was announced that MEC electric carsharing had won the award of this public tender. Thanks to this contract, extendable until December 2024, we have become providers of the sustainable mobility service, which covers the mobility needs of CIRE employees when traveling.

We are proud to be able to offer our service at the Center for Reinsertion Initiatives throughout 2023.
